Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie

Kids will love climbing through these forts, and adults will love relearning what their teachers taught them in class. (The opening shots of the Civil War were fired from Fort Sumter.)

Charleston has nearby beaches, and who knows- you might even get a 70 degree day during the holidays. Get some sand between your toes (or under your boots) at the Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island (home to Fort Moultrie) and Folly Beach and then hit up nearby lunch spots.
