Apply sunscreen. Even though the weather is cooler, your skin is still at risk from the harmful UV rays of the sun. Apply a facial sunblock or a moisturizer with at least SPF 15 before you put on your makeup every morning.

Shower smart. While hot water feels great when it’s cold outside, it will dry out your skin; use warm water instead. Pat dry – don’t rub – when you get out of the shower and within three minutes of getting out, apply a moisturizer or emollient to the dry areas.

Switch products. Throw out that bar of soap and switch to a moisturizing body wash. Switch to a shampoo that includes the ingredients zinc pyrithione (Head and Shoulders) or coal tar (Neutrogena T/Gel) to alleviate dry, itchy scalp.

Hydrate. Your skin is an organ and needs its daily supply of water to maintain a healthy glow. Having a hard time drinking your 8 cups a day when it’s colder outside? Consider drinking herbal tea instead.
